The Oklahoma Institute for Child Advocacy has joined a broad-based coalition of health care and business leaders to encourage legislative leaders to find an Oklahoma-based solution to the new requirements of the federal Affordable Care Act. The coalition, brought together by the State Chamber of Oklahoma, is a group of 30 organizations to represent a variety of interests.
“Oklahomans need an Oklahoma solution for their health care needs. This coalition will work to ensure that lawmakers understand the importance of passing legislation to move forward with a state-based insurance exchange. The diverse health care needs of families and children in Oklahoma are best met with local solutions. Children don’t have lobbyists. We have been the Voice for Oklahoma’s children for more than 25 years. We bring that same unwavering commitment to this coalition. Families and children will be greatly affected by the changes in the federal health care law. We want to make certain children have a seat at the table. “ -- Executive Director Linda Terrell |
